And hey, they're soldiers. They can probably last on a little and ration out what they need to if shit starts getting dire.
"Whatever you need me to do, so, guess we'd better not drink a whole lot and make it last. You really have more to worry about than whether I can actually manage to land a paying job or not, Tex."
"Or maybe you just like the free ride." First time for everything and she's not a huge fan of buying everything they need. Just because she's a badass doesn't mean she doesn't like to be treated every once in a while.
As for carrying everything...he's gonna damn well try. Bags of clothes on one arm. Boozes and food bags on the other. He flexes unnecessarily, not that whatever muscle he's got can adequately be seen. "Just so long as you don't jump me. If I go down, save the booze first." Hey, what, that shit'll break, the rest of everything'll be fine.
"That's the one thing saving you from being jumped." The alcohol is more important than his safety. He can recover, broken bottles can't. "C'mon, the house isn't that far away."
"Lead the way. I'm not taking the chance of being jumped anyway." Besides, he'll follow her just about anywhere. Just, uh, if her pace is a bit speedier, he'll have no complaints. None. ...Maybe.
She'll lead the way, mostly because she doesn't trust him to not get them lost. She pulls out the glasses to make sure she's on the right path and when they reach the front door, she's quick to unlock it and push it open. "Get the food put away first."
Hey, he didn't get them lost before! He can read maps, thanks. With a heave, he is so glad to get the weight off his arms and nudges open the fridge to start putting the cold shit away. "Next time, you're carrying everything. And me."
"Keep telling yourself that." Because spoiler, it's not happening. And while he's blocking the kitchen, she loads up on the clothes to take into the bedroom and get those sorted.
Food stowed, then booze in the cabinet. To be busted out...shortly, he assumes. Or after he cooks. That might be better. But tequila is calling...
So here it is. A date out and some domestic, civilian items done. They could really make this a house together. It's pretty big for just two people, but hey, more room between the two of them. They'll probably need it at some point anyway.
She's got the bedroom in some semblance of order and she's quick to get into comfortable pajamas. It's still freezing outside and she's not keen on going out after dark in this weather if she can avoid it.
"Got the shots ready?" she jokes as she enters the kitchen.
"...I can totally get shots ready if it'll make you get out of what you're wearing any faster." Tequila calls them both! Out come the glasses and the bottle. "Should've just come down in nothing, would've been easier."
"I just got into this and you want me out?" she asks with a snort. She's been dreaming of this shot and her hand rests on her glass as she waits for him to pour.
"Fine, drinking first. Drinking first, and then all the fun we can think up doing in the privacy of our own home." One shot poured for each of them. And, hell, use up all the shot glasses and get a little row of them going. "But I can promise you that I am both warmer and more comfortable to wear."
She is not going to argue with a line of shots and she slams back the first one. How the hell has she gone so long without feeling that burn? "Damn. I'm not going to need you to warm me up if I have enough shots of this."
"Come on, that was a good line! You have to admit, that was a pretty good line. I've had much worse lines." She'd better not have more shots than him. He will match her shot for shot. Their shiny new livers need kicked in anyway.
"Better come up with another one if you want my pants off," she teases. Or let her have a couple more shots of tequila. She's starting off the night with a good, strong buzz and downs another two shots before stopping. A buzz that might quickly escalate beyond that given her body's lack of alcohol tolerance, but she remembers being able to handle that many, so it should be okay, right?
Obviously it'll be okay if they are both buzzed and quickly borderline drunk. What could possibly go wrong? Besides everything. "Better slow down there, Tex. Or I could get a puke bucket for you. It's okay if you need to throw in the tequila towel early."
That sounds like a challenge to her. The alcohol hasn't quite hit the bloodstream yet and there's a glint in her eye as she grips her shot glass tighter. "Shut up and pour another round."
Alcohol burns, but Tex always burns brighter. Compliantly he pours more. They'll just have to be like Delta and deal with the inevitability of hangovers. "Are you sure you don't want to switch to something a little lighter? Maybe I should mix you up a girly fruity cocktail."
"Only if I can shove it up your ass after." She's not going to back down from this challenge, no matter how bad the hangover. There's plenty of time to sober up before they sleep, right? She throws back the shot and slams the glass on the counter. "Another."
"Kinky. Also, glassy. So let's avoid that." God damn it, her being competitive is going to kill him, because he's going to fucking do this with her if it kills him from alcohol poisoning.
She's going to regret it?! He still has to cook. (Hint: for everyone's safety, that probably is not happening.) "I never said outdrink. I think I'm gonna match you, or I am at least going to make a valiant effort. Do we need to make this another bet?"
"Already promised you a pinning to the bed. But I'll have to get a little creative with whatever..." All the more reason to keep up. Sure hope this wasn't an expensive bottle.
